Our Rest

Well, last week was my first week of semester 2 of college. To be quite honest, it was challenging. My classes were very demanding, my schedule was overwhelming, and preparing for ywam has been hard work. In the midst of the hustle and bustle I was reminded of a verse that I actually have over my bed in my dorm room. Matthew 11:28-30 says, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” I absolutely love these verses. When I get stressed, especially by college, I find so much rest in knowing that I can come to the Lord. I find great peace, rest, and comfort in knowing that at any time I feel stressed or overwhelmed, I can find refuge in coming to Jesus. The Lord offers rest that sustains and satisfies the weary heart. When we come to Him, then we can learn from Him. Becoming more like Jesus is the most beautiful way to live life to the fullest. He is a constant in the midst of life’s craziness. The Lord wants us to experience true rest in Him. Think about that feeling where you can simply be and you aren’t worried about anything, that is what the Lord wants you to experience in Him. He wants you to know that you can come to Him at any moment and that He will wrap you in His loving embrace. Find that comfort and relief that you so desperately are seeking in the Father. He is the safest refuge, kindest friend, compassionate Father, and loving healer. This is the one whom we can find rest for our souls in by simply coming to Him. He wants us so deeply, and is the only one that can satisfy us. If you are desperately in need of rest that satisfies, come to the Lord today, He will accept you with open arms. You are so loved.
