Be Still

Are you making room for the Lord? Are you actively seeking Him and His presence in the midst of crazy everyday life? This morning my devotional was talking about how the Lord’s voice is often still and quiet, and the Bible also says, “Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10) Are we still so we can intently listen to the only voice that matters? The world is so loud and the distractions are constant, and we are always running towards or away from something. What are we chasing? If we are not pursuing the Lord daily and chasing after Him then we will chase other things that will continually disappoint and never satisfy our hearts. There is an ache in every human heart, a cry for something to satisfy. However, so many try to fill this with things that only cloud and confuse what the Lord intended to be good. If we are not filling ourselves with the Lord daily then how are we ever going to hear from Him? One of the main things that I have been learning this semester is how important it is to carve out time every day for the Lord. Life is nothing short of pure craziness and my schedule is simply overwhelming, but I hear this whisper that says, “come to me beloved.” We must find stillness in this life. A moment where we sit in awe of the King. Where we can accept love in its most perfect form. A moment where we can soak in our Father’s presence. A moment where grace overwhelms our weary souls. A contentment that satisfies. A rest that endures. A relationship that fulfills. When we are actively living for the Lord, then we crave more of Him everyday, and the beautiful thing is that there is always more of Jesus to discover and pursue. We could spend a whole lifetime seeking Him, and yet there is still more to know and love. Moreover, I encourage you this week to take a moment and be still before the Lord. Come to the one who satisfies. Come to the one who loves you perfectly and in a way that satisfies every void of emptiness. Our sweet Jesus loves you so much. Rest in His love!
